Title: McCain or Obama

big305 - September 8, 2008 11:30 PM (GMT)
I'm hoping to make a small, freindly debate here. Probably one of the biggest issues here are the war on Iraq, National Security, and Off-shore drilling. Just so you know i'm supporting McCain for many reasons.

One: I think we should stay in Iraq cause victory is in sight for us and Obama wants to bring back the troops forfitting rather than bring them back winners. Two: Obama talks to much about change. When the only thing he has been changing is his mind. Three: Obama has no experience (only 2 years in the senate) and was never serving our country at war. McCain served our country and was tortured serving America. If anyone deserves to be president it is him. Four: No offense to any democrats here but us Republicans are not republicans cause we're rich. We're republicans cause we dont sit around waiting for the government to rescue us. Five: Obama doesn't really support off-shore drilling. Six: Obama recently wrote two books while he has been running for president. In one of them he specifically said, "If the political winds shift in an ugly direction, I will stand with the muslims." In other words people that don't like us. Seven: We should start drilling because if you haven't noticed, the money we pay to get gas, is going to our enemies in Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq, etc. I hope you reply and give me your point of view. :D

Ian - September 9, 2008 07:40 PM (GMT)
Obama, because I hate republicans thoughts. McCain will be another Bush, which we do NOT need.

Nc - September 9, 2008 11:21 PM (GMT)
McCain.
I'm sorry, but in all honesty.. Obama will get shot.

Ian - September 10, 2008 01:31 AM (GMT)
Indeed, he will be... That's what's hitting me. Oh well. :P

mr.swartz - September 10, 2008 01:45 AM (GMT)
As for my thoughts on the debate. I want Obama to win because...

Health -----

Guaranteed eligibility. No American will be turned away from any ----- plan because of illness or pre-existing conditions.

Comprehensive benefits. The benefit package will be similar to that offered through Federal Employees Health Benefits Program (FEHBP), the plan members of Congress have. The plan will cover all essential medical services, including preventive, maternity and mental health care.

Affordable premiums, co-pays and deductibles.

Iraq War

Barack Obama believes we must be as careful getting out of Iraq as we were careless getting in. Immediately upon taking office, Obama will give his Secretary of Defense and military commanders a new mission in Iraq: ending the war. The removal of our troops will be responsible and phased, directed by military commanders on the ground and done in consultation with the Iraqi government. Military experts believe we can safely redeploy combat brigades from Iraq at a pace of 1 to 2 brigades a month that would remove them in 16 months. That would be the summer of 2010 – more than 7 years after the war began.

Under the Obama plan, a residual force will remain in Iraq and in the region to conduct targeted counter-terrorism missions against al Qaeda in Iraq and to protect American diplomatic and civilian personnel.

There are many other reasons why he should become president, just visit http://www.barackobama.com/index.php

As said by Ian, McCain will be another Bush, which we do NOT need. That is a true fact, just read up on how McCain has voted in the same stuff that Bush did...

Obama maybe black, racism will diffentatly play a factor with him as president but I am pretty positive that Obama will have heavy security because of that reason.

Always remember, just because someone says they will do something, doesnt mean they will.

Ian - September 10, 2008 02:02 AM (GMT)
Obama already has more security then any other president has had. :P

Nc - September 10, 2008 10:39 AM (GMT)
They've already officially foiled an assassination plan on Obama. It was all over the news. He's dead, end of story. It's terrible to say but I dont think we're ready for a black man to run the country. Nor a woman.

big305 - September 10, 2008 11:47 AM (GMT)
Well, I heard on a talk show on the radio that Obama's wife, Michelle Obama, is extremely anti-white. That's one more reason why I'm not voting for Obama. Ian, how do you know McCain is going to be another Bush? Just because they're in the same party? You do know McCain voted for 88% of the things Bush supported. And Obama voted for 97% of things Bush supported.

And I hate the new Obama commercial. Bush-McCain? Like they're running together. It's McCain-Palin, which is the smartest thing McCain has done in his campaign.

And what I said before, "McCain deserves to be president of this country."
I meant to say this country deserves a great leader like McCain.

Yeah, you're right. I've always thought Obama was a dead man walking. :D)

Gerjen - October 10, 2008 05:27 PM (GMT)
Not picking someone because he might (will) get shot is a very stupid reason imo :P

Ya but still either McCain or Obama, your going to expect to hear on the news that they tried to assassinate the President. And maybe, hopefully not, they will say, "the President got shot!"

What's wierd is, "Who is Obama?" He came out of nowhere and now we're going to let him become the president of the United States? He has only served 4 years in the senate and for a while was a community organizer. But that is the only thing he has done. We didn't know about Obama, as soon as we saw him decide that he was going to run for president. And I think the only reason people started to get interested in him was because he's black. Actually, he isn't African American, but he is Muslim. Now does that mean we might see him blowing up the White House? NO. But it sure means that if we get into a war with the Muslims, how are we so sure Obama will stick to us? I'm sorry but Sen. Obama is not a christian or catholic for that matter. He may claim to be, but thats because he doesn't want to look bad.

Another thing, he has disrespected this country many times. Do you know when Obama was campaigning, he was using a private jet. That's not the good part. They had a sticker of the American flag on the side of the plane. Obama asked if he can remove it and he put a sticker of his campaign. The sticker that says Obama/Biden '08. Now think about it. When they asked him why did he do that, he responded: "I don't want to take sides." WHAT!? He's running for President and Leader of the United States, and he doesn't want to take our side?

For example, how can you be the coach of the NY Giants, if you are wearing a Patriot's jersey and rooting for the other team. Just think about it.

Ian - October 13, 2008 07:01 PM (GMT)
Big, what you are saying is just perpetuating this belief that you must be a white, Christian, 100% perfect American to be president.

Your metaphor makes no sense about the NY Giants/Patriots thing...
He wanted his campaign picture on it... What's the big deal?

If you buy a car and it has a HUGE American flag on it, wouldn't you want i removed?

Gerjen - October 13, 2008 08:49 PM (GMT)
So a poster of his campaign is the opposite of the american flag? Bit biased:P

big305 - October 14, 2008 11:52 AM (GMT)
That's not the point. He specifically said, "I don't want to take sides."

If you're going to run to become the leader of a country, of course you're supposed to take the side that you are going to lead. I don't care if the president is black, a woman, or a black woman, but they got to have experience, and lead this country where that we can have a better future. Honestly, I don't think Obama can get us there. I feel like he doesn't know some of the things he's even saying. (And I don't think his running mate is a great politician either).

I'm not a complete McCain fan, but I think he would be the better choice for this country. And I don't think his running mate is good either, she has almost no experience like Obama.

Gerjen - October 15, 2008 11:26 AM (GMT)
It seems to me that for 3 times in a row now you guys have the pick the one that is the least bad :P

big305 - October 15, 2008 12:19 PM (GMT)
I don't get what you mean Gerjen.. ::blank::

Gerjen - October 15, 2008 06:10 PM (GMT)
Instead of having to pick the one you think is best, you have to pick the one you think is least bad :P

Ian - October 16, 2008 01:19 AM (GMT)
Indeed. I don't like either of them. But I don't like McCain more. :P

Jennifer - October 16, 2008 03:24 PM (GMT)
Obama ftw.

If McCain wins he may croak then we'll have that stupid Sarah Palin for President and God knows we don't need that ignorant woman running this country.

Plus I do not agree with McCain and I do with Obama.

Motley - October 17, 2008 04:51 AM (GMT)
Sarah Palin believes that the world is six thousand years old and that dinosaurs were contemporary to modern man.

Let's back it up just a little bit here.

Sarah Palin, Vice President candidate, believes that the Earth is six thousand years old and that dinosaurs walked the Earth with mankind.

You can believe in Jesus. You can believe the Earth is six thousand years old. You can believe that you yourself are Jesus. It doesn't matter to me. I really couldn't care less. Read after me: I-do-not-care. The level at which I do not care how much of a dumbass someone wants to be is staggering. If you want to be a completely foolish moronic idiot, fine! I won't try to stop you. I won't tell you that you're a completely foolish moronic idiot. I won't say you're a dumbass. What you do is your business, not mine.

Unless you're running for one of the highest offices in the United States. Yeah... then I care. A lot.

If someone believes the Earth is six thousand years old, when all of the evidence supports it being seven hundred and fifty THOUSAND times that, somehow I do not think you have the capacity, the mental prowess, or the maturity to run this country or be in even the smallest position of the country.

If you believe the Earth is six thousand years old, you should be in a mental institute. At the very least, you should be intensely educated on why it isn't and then be put in a mental institute.

By saying, here's the evidence, but I believe what I believe about the Earth being six thousand years old, you are admitting that you like being willingly ignorant. So if you believe that, for example, Iran is selling nuclear (not nuke-u-lar) weapons to children, and everyone else shows you evidence that such is not the case, what is to stop you from bombing Iran to stop them anyway?

Sounding like anyone? Yeah.

Gerjen - October 17, 2008 08:08 AM (GMT)
You know people could take beeing called ripe for a mental institute as very offensive?

And as far as I know all Jews believe that and most christians too...

big305 - October 18, 2008 03:26 PM (GMT)
Where did you hear that Palin believes that the Earth is 6,000 years old?

On YouTube, in addition to the video of the witch hunter blessing (which would make up for her lack of belief in young earth creationism), there are also videos of her slamming established sciences such as evolution and the big bang. She doesn't specifically say 6000 years, but you can bet on it. ;)

She's a goddamn fundamentalist. That's enough.

Let them. If someone willingly discards the only tool we humans have in this world that makes our lives so much easier, they can feel free to be offended, because their ignorance offends me. :)

Sorry, but I'm not a big fan of Marxism.

You know your established sciences such as the big bang have never been proved right?

So that would make it as much beliving as say, christianity?
Also, I read somewhere that the chance of the big bang having the perfect conditions for creating the universe are equal to throwing a dice a 7 billion times and getting all 6's.

Any idea what you're looking at? OK, here's a hint: it's not... God. That is the background radiation from the big bang. That's right, that image is the beginning of our universe. Isn't that neat? Now, do you want to prove solidify your idiocy by saying again that the big bang hasn't been proven?

And I cover this in the book I'm writing. Assuming it takes equal faith to 'believe' in the big bang when compared to believing in God is nothing short of idiotic. It's like a crime scene. Let's say a murder has been committed and the only ones there were the murderer and the dead person. You can't ask the dead person how it happened (the dead person being the big bang that happened too long ago to directly observe), but you can observe the crime scene (the universe) and all of the evidence in the crime scene, such as fingerprints and whatnot (looking at the cosmic microwave background radiation), and deduce that THIS PERSON was the killer (this person being the expanding universe from the big bang).

Interestingly, the God hypothesis doesn't stand up to such scrutiny. It says every element is untestable and thus you have to go on faith alone. Also, the numbers cited are complete and utter BS. We don't know if there was a set limit to how much the numbers could have varied or if they could have varied at all. You could either set the variation at zero (and it would have ended the same way every time) or at infinity (and it would be different every time), but we can see that the universe didn't get off to a bad start, because we're here.

If you want some real information, and to see how the creationists have distorted numbers to support themselves, check out this video: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=p3nvH6gfrTc

Watch and learn. Thunderf00t's whole series is quite excellent. He'll set you on the right track.

So you're saying that a video of her speaking isn't considered as proof anymore? Well jeez, I'm going to go videotape myself killing a hooker... I'll say it's on video so they can't prosecute me.

big305 - October 25, 2008 12:38 AM (GMT)
I know we're getting off-topic here, but I like the way Motley put it that the big bang theory may not have been proven, but there's evidence around us pointing towards the big bang actually being real. I also like how Motley compared the big bang to a crime scene. IMO, I believe in the big bang, but im not 100% on it.

Gerjen - October 25, 2008 10:55 AM (GMT)
Just off the dissusion, motley, note that I never stated that I didn't infact believe in the Big bang nor that i believe evolution is fake.

I believe both actualy happend ;-)
I can just follow the train of thought of the ones that don't, and just had to go against your arrogant "I know best and if you argue your mentaly retarded" style of argueing.

Expect a responce to your oh so proof of the big bang soon ;)
