Title: What happens after death?
Description: Yet another vague topic by me :p
komali 2 - January 25, 2005 04:46 AM (GMT)
lol here's another vague thing that's confusing me, and it's also the cause of many fights so i think there should be a discussion about it. Okay here's what i think:
When you die, you don't think, feel, hear, taste, smell, or see anything anymore. You, your body, THE YOU has shut down and no longer preforms any functions. No spirit is released, you, your brain, THE YOU is simply dead, like a turned-off computer. This is a very grim thought and i wish i could make myself believe something else :( but i can't :( BTW i have some thoughts on heaven. A paradise people say. But what is a paradise if it lasts forever? Wouldn't that get extremely boring? Nothing to look forward to ever? ETERNITY is a very big thing, never ending. To me, heaven sounds as bad as shutting down like a '97 macintosh.
^Those're 1/100 of my thoughts. What do you guys think of death and a supposed afterlife? (and shouldn't it be called "afterdeath"?)
embrace - January 25, 2005 06:47 PM (GMT)
after death you decompose. that is all. humans are simply ugly sacks of water that move and repair themselves. death is the end of the movement and the repairing. QED

I disagree.
When a person dies, they're drawn to a bright light..which makes them feel alot of love.. and makes them feel happy enough to leave everything/everyone in their life behind. Where you go depends of course whether or not a person is christian, and how you are judged by God.
Heaven awaits, for the person to meet up with fellow friends/relatives who have passed. Parents are able to look over their children, brothers, sisters.. and so on!
embrace - January 25, 2005 07:14 PM (GMT)
Gasp how do you know this ? do they have internet conections in that bright light ?
When sombody dies they don't phone up on weekends to tell people how the vacation is going.
oh and if your going to gibber on about near death experences. ones which include near brain death meen there is a lack of blood flowing to the brain and it cannot store memorys properly, when sombodys heart stops then its the same, when sombodys about to die in another form they panic and halucinate. These are the facts. Everything else is propaganda.
-tiGz- - January 25, 2005 11:14 PM (GMT)
Ok.. I forgot to add "in my opinion" :) This is pretty much John Edwards opinion ("Crossing over with John..") though, and many other peoples! I didn't say it was a fact. Whether you believe or not, is up to you! I guess it all depends on whether or not you believe in god, again.

This, as far as i know of, is all very true in Judaism, too, which is the way I believe. All actions in one's life are reflected upon when reaching afterlife. Depending on what kind of person you were, you got special treatments. Of course, most texts I've read say that all of this stuff only applies to Jews -- people of other religions have they're own system of afterlife.

I know that beleif is doubt. i know that decomosision is the stage humans go through after death. i have accepted my mortality you have not, i know this because that is the main reason people catch(is that a suitable word to use?) religion.
Hmm im getting a bit intense here again i appologise ill stop posting about religion on this board for a week.
Oh by the way i have started a charity to help those suffering from religion i dont get many donations sadly.
komali 2 - January 26, 2005 03:34 AM (GMT)
Well i don't agree with religion much it kinda puts a stopper on thinking (except for budhists. i heard it takes years of constant thought to achieve "enlightenment :P ) but a charity?! What would be the point? where would the money go? Anyway don't stop discussing religion if you were doing something wrong the mods would delete your post smear tar over you stick live chickens to you then ban you :P
Anyway for those of you that believe a spirit goes to heaven, what is the spirit? Is it the thinking device? If it is then what is the brain? Does your spirit take your brain with it or something? That would seem a little messy actually....
embrace - January 26, 2005 01:47 PM (GMT)
I intend to gather enough funds to start a rehab centre.
komali 2 - January 26, 2005 05:44 PM (GMT)
well i doubt anybody will join because religion isn't something that people are addicted to and want to get rid of, usually. Most people that have religion like it...... Anyway BOT....
embrace - January 26, 2005 06:06 PM (GMT)
Most people addicted to crack like it.
Most people "find" religion at the most traumatic part of there lives.
From what i see in the streets 90% of nutters are firm belivers.
This leads me to think that religion is a serious problem in society.

Then what about evolution? Evolution is belief, which, as you say, is doubt.thumsup
And ya right 90% of the people are firm believers! They are the kind of people who say,"Cool Christianity is awesome! I want to be a Christian! Okay I'm a Christian now!" There are so many people like that that when surveyed, there are three choices, one of them is "unpracticing". There are MANY people who are classified as that. It's not what I call "firm"
BTW, I am a true, practicing Christian who, in the minority, ACTUALLY believes in the Bible... no offense. :D
And, when you die, as another has already said, you must be a Christian to go to heaven. And I don't know where you got the "bright light" thing. Once you die you go to heaven or hell.
komali 2 - January 27, 2005 03:24 AM (GMT)
Nobody has answered my question yet... <_<
Anyway for those of you that believe a spirit goes to heaven, what is the spirit? Is it the thinking device? If it is then what is the brain? Does your spirit take your brain with it or something? That would seem a little messy actually....
omg i put "asked" instead of "answered"....
-tiGz- - January 27, 2005 02:09 PM (GMT)
I guess no1 really know the answer to the questions you asked. We can only answer with our opinions or as we believe!
Some of the belifs of "Spirit" are:
-at death the spirit is given back to Him who gave it.
-A spirit is a living being that is incorporeal, i.e., it does not possess a physical body. Note that Jesus took on a physical human body.
-A spirit is that which can exist and act without a body. A soul is that which gives life to a living body. The only case where we find a soul, which is also a spirit, is in that of the human soul.-The highest part of yourself that lives in the spiritual world, but works with you.
-The Chinese describe the Spirit as the part of us which is responsible for our overall sense of purpose and identity.
-any incorporeal supernatural being that can become visible (or audible) to human beings
The bolded part, is the definitions.. i believe/agree with.
As for.. What is the spiritual world?
There is wood, therefore trees.. there is water, therefore rivers and oceans. There is earth, so why not a spititual world?!

Evolution has been seen. evolution is mutation and natural selection.
oh and if you belive in the bible i ask the question do you belive in the bible code ?
komali 2 - January 31, 2005 04:54 PM (GMT)
...
Is that something like the Divinsy code? Lol i can't spell it....
"There is wood, therefore trees.. there is water, therefore rivers and oceans. There is earth, so why not a spititual world?!"
I've seen water. I've smelled sappy trees. I've felt moist earth. Now can somebody please give me a chunk of heaven to taste?
And about answering my question, i meant nobody has stated their opinion on it. And still.... nobody really has  What part of you thinks? The spirit, or the brain?
-tiGz- - February 3, 2005 11:28 AM (GMT)
I have no idea, just found it on the net.. when i was looking for one of John Edwards' quotes.
umm, within our brain.. we have a part that is referred to as "the thinking brain" that's the part that allows us to think and do everything from talking to walking. When the thinking brain isnt working he/she sleeps in a coma.
But aside from that, i believe the spirit can think. It must be able to, otherwise there wouldnt be much of us going to the spiritual world.
Abragini - February 3, 2005 10:48 PM (GMT)
I guess it depends on what religion you are...I do think it is a big controversy though! People that go hang out and do all these horrible things and that have no "home training" (well its what my teacher says lol) will say they are Christians just becuase most people around here are. They won't practice the religion or follow the Bible, they just claim to be Christians because they think other people that aren't are just weird and are going to hell. By the way, what is hell anyways? And y do Christians say that you are goin to hell if you dont believe in their religion? That pisses me off. Someone will try to convert you and when you don't they will say w/e you are going to hell. Don't try to convince me that Jesus died on the cross for me and I don't even believe in it... Don't say I am going to hell just because we have different opinions... There will be alot of people in this world going to what a Christian will call 'hell' because they are a different religion than they are...
I am so sorry that this is off topic but I had to say it!
Master - February 5, 2005 06:21 AM (GMT)
I guess both think... Some decisions you make are guided by your "heart" (really your spirit I guess) and you do the right thing.
komali 2 - February 13, 2005 02:33 AM (GMT)
"I guess both think... Some decisions you make are guided by your "heart" (really your spirit I guess) and you do the right thing."
... *takes xray of heart* *puts xray picture on table and spins it* *walks in direction bottom of heart points to*
"And y do Christians say that you are goin to hell if you dont believe in their religion?"
Ya i kinda get sick of that too. If i'm going to hell YIPEE whatever. According to your religion that's my punishment SO STOP BUGGING ME ABOUT IT! *twitch*

Because that's what we believe. You don't believe it, then you go to hell. Plain and simple. Now, these people that you're talking to shouldn't be rubbing that into your face like this. That's not right. What you believe is what you believe, whether its right or not. And frankly, I don't really give a rat's arse what anyone believes but myself, because that's all that matters. I can't take care of everyone. These people that you're talking to should realize that, and quit being so pushy about it.
Now, let's say that:
Maybe Jesus DID die on the cross for you. Doesn't matter if you believe it or not, because he did already. I believe that if I jump off of a cliff, I can land on my feet, bounce, and fly away. Does that mean that it's true? Nope.
Beliefs and opinions are slightly different for Christians... I don't know how to explain that one, though.
And, they won't be going to hell because they're a different religion then we are. Probably, they'll go to hell because they didn't believe in the one thing that could possibly give them a chance.
I really have to stop posting in this board...

If there is one thing that scares me more than anything else, it is this question. I mean, I think that once you die your soul dies. But if your soul dies, what do you feel? Or how can you not feel anything? Or, if you see nothing do you see black or white? Or pink or blue? And if you die, and you still see or feel something, do you stay that way? What would you do? And If you can't feel or see anything then what would you do? Or what if you coudn't do? How would you...
As much as I wan't to bolieve in life after death, or heaven and hell, It just doesn't make any sence to me. To me, it makes more sence that your brain stops and your heart stops and you no longer feel or think. Everything just shuts down. But then what happens? I mean physicly, you are shut down but I can't even think about how it would be not to be able to think, move, feel etc.
Scorpio - February 14, 2005 07:46 AM (GMT)
i just think it depends on what you believe, if you believe that there is life after death then so be it, we cant prove it until we die, and even then its going to be to late

That's it, right there. Heaven or hell, there is no in between. Let me ask you this, if nothing happens...we jsut die....what is the point of life? how did we get here? Why are we here?? etc etc. Anyway, I know where I am going.
Nir - February 22, 2005 04:55 AM (GMT)
We are here because of evolution which was started by the big bang. Don't ask your self why are you here. Ask yourself what you can do now that you are here.

Pretty sad but thats what I think.

Kilika - February 23, 2005 05:10 AM (GMT)
I don't believe in god or the devil, I believe in reincarnation.
komali 2 - March 1, 2005 02:27 PM (GMT)
Reincanation. Wheewwweo! My favorite of all the beliefs. Almost all others sound like torture. Heaven would be an eternity, and few grasp that. ETERNITY!! That's forever and ever and ever. Never ending. Ever. Nada. And then there's what i believe in, just dying. Not feeling, thinking, anything. Like quiz said. Horrible, yet true, for me at least. Then there's reincarnation. Coming back to life in somebody else, not remembering anything except for maybe a few dejavous.... however you spell that.... anyway that would be great. Sure it's eternity also, but at least you start out new each time! So all you reincarnation believers i suggest you keep on believing! At least you won't be worrying as much about stuff...
Brandon - March 6, 2005 10:16 PM (GMT)
After you die, I kinda wish that you could meet five people in heaven that showed you that your life really did have a meaning and all the positive that you have done.
For example the book The Five People You Meet In Heaven OR the movie The Five People You Meet In Heaven
Cruzharo - March 7, 2005 02:50 AM (GMT)
Confusing subject, why?
1. You get the iternal life if you go to heaven, but if you go to hell you are also alive so wtf?
2.If you die, there cant possible be NOTHING? That would really suck. Although I dont think the one being nothing would give a damh cuz he actually cant.
3.There must be somthing more right? Thats heaven, thats what I belive in. heaven cant wait....
I just personally dont think there can be NOTHING after I die... Cuz dont you think that is a bit? wierd. All this time life has been this wierd thing we do everyday and its so wierd. Like in the matrix ... Its so wierd... THERE JUST CANT BE NOTHING.
So, there is a heaven. Belive it or not.
komali 2 - March 7, 2005 06:54 PM (GMT)
"If you die, there cant possible be NOTHING? That would really suck. Although I dont think the one being nothing would give a damh cuz he actually cant."
Why would life care if it sucked or not? There is nothing ruleing whether or not you enjoy yourself. If nothing after death is bad OH WELL there is nothing there to make it better for you. In fact, there IS something after death sorta, if you have children. Children ARE you, what you're made of. They're like a clone, sorta... So there's always that, not that you'll be physically aware of that. 1 very happy (and dead+eaten if ur a boy) cell will be, but not you :D
Wintered - March 10, 2005 02:00 AM (GMT)
I believe in heaven and hell. I don't think that particle out of nowhere -> BOOM -> Dinosaurs -> Monkeys -> Humans is possible.
Brandon - March 12, 2005 02:09 AM (GMT)
I try not to think of death too much anymore, I recently lost a very good friend of mine, try not to think about people dying and what happens after .... i guess...
-tiGz- - March 12, 2005 11:51 AM (GMT)
^ Sorry to hear.
But wouldn't knowing/believing in life after death bring comfort. Knowing that there's family/friends looking over you! I think its comforting. They're always there to listen, even if they can't respond. :)
Cruzharo - March 12, 2005 12:41 PM (GMT)
Thats a great way to think of it :)
komali 2 - March 15, 2005 10:35 PM (GMT)
"I don't think that particle out of nowhere -> BOOM -> Dinosaurs -> Monkeys -> Humans is possible."
*stamps feet* I hate i hate i HATE that STUPID scientist that came up with that STUPID big BANG THEORY! Now everybody keeps on using it as a so called "telling point" in their arguments! The big bang theory is LAAAAAAAME. And about the monkeys, e-v-o-l-u-t-i-o-n.
"But wouldn't knowing/believing in life after death bring comfort. Knowing that there's family/friends looking over you! I think its comforting. They're always there to listen, even if they can't respond."
But like.... then they can see you going to the bathroom...
Liv - April 1, 2005 07:01 PM (GMT)
Um..well, yes, i agree. the Big Bang is the most ridiculous piece of $h!+ that i have ever heard of. Especially that we 'evolved' from monkeys. that's just freakin stupid.
But, i think after you die...you are just sleeping. B/c the ressurection of the dead will come soon, i believe. so, yea, after you die, you are just sleeping, and when your ressurected, and you 'wake up' it'll feel like you were just taking a nap.
I think that would be cool. Catch up on all your 'missing sleep' that you never got when you were alive lol
Splaz - April 1, 2005 11:01 PM (GMT)
I know this topic's been going on for a while, and I've kinda ignored it but im gonna join in. I hate the big bang theory as well. I'm Jewish and beleive basically that God made the world for change. After we die, i have this vague idea that we kind of...well still live but somewhere else not like heaven, not a perfect place somewhere...its hard to explain, kind of like you move, and you can watch over you're family and loved ones....
Liv - April 1, 2005 11:09 PM (GMT)
I still think you're sleeping... <_< lol
But yea, we DO go somewhere, but no one knows where. Actually, no one knows anything about what's after death.
but i DO no taht the big bang is a total myth >< lol
